Breathing is the foundation of life. We breathe up to 20,000 times per day, yet we aren’t taught how to do it effectively, nor are we taught its impact. When we let our body breathe, we allow it to be dictated by the most primitive part of our brain that deals with survival, emotion, and behaviour. This can leave our breathing to the unconscious mind, vulnerable to stored emotions, traumas, and beliefs — many of which we may be unaware of.

Although in our modern world we likely aren’t in mortal danger, the same survival responses remain. These are now activated through our modern-world stressors and, as a result, change our breathing patterns without us knowing. This, in turn, has consequences on our whole body and life. The amazing part is that breathing (unlike digestion, circulation, etc.) is the only necessary bodily function we can control. Once awareness is cultivated, habits and structure can be formed, leading to many compounding benefits.

If you regulate your breath, you influence your state. Influence your state, and you manage your emotions. Manage your emotions, and you improve your decisions. Improve your decisions, and you shape your future.
